Moore on Monday and Pre-Stockport Thoughts

In his Monday Press Conference, Ronnie Moore today gave his pre-match thoughts to Tranmere World and also reflected on the season so far and the state of his squad ahead of tomorrow night's League One clash away at Stockport County as Rovers seek a fifth game on the road without defeat.
In his Monday Press Conference, Rovers Boss Ronnie Moore gave his pre-match comments and his thoughts on the current crop of Rovers players under his command.
Moore told Tranmere World...................
"October has been a great month for us but you could see it coming, we've had one really off game and then gone on to win 5 out of 6 so we are going in the right direction."
"It's about getting into the winning habit, but the biggest thing for me was keeping a clean sheet. At one stage we were having to score three goals to win a game and now in a week we've scored two, three times and not conceded."
"The extra bit of work we've done with the back four and the five across the middle with the wingers tucking in, has benefited everybody."
"Stockport is another big test for us, if we win the game we go into the play off places but Stockport will be thinking the same. This week we have two testing games, but at this level they are all testing games, there are no easy games but the form we are in, we shouldn't fear anybody."
"We respect Stockport they are a good, young exciting side. They've got Rowe, who everybody's talking about, he will be a constant threat to us and it will be a big tester for Ryan - if he can keep him quiet, it'll go a long way to us winning the game."
"Fans get nervy and anxious, we have to make sure we don't concede an early goal - we need to keep it nice and tight and lively. We have a decent side now who have a lot of belief and we are looking forward to the challenge."
"We have been working with Jenno, trying to time his runs more, he's been in the box a few times and been caught offside a few times because he's got ahead of the ball. There are goals to come from Jenno and Edds."
"Charlie is starting to show what we know he can do, he came on, on Friday night and picked the pace of the game up and sprayed it all over the place. There is a lot of competition for places in there now."
"I don't like harping back to Goodison, he didn't play at Swindon and Grimsby, then we stuck with the 4-5-1 formation and won 1-0 at home against Hartlepool once he was back but it wasn't fluent enough, I don't think the lads were quite sure at the time and if you're not winning games, it's difficult to persist - you need patience, and we've done a lot of extra work on the training ground."
"One of the biggest things the two wide guys have to know is when we need them back defending and when we need them attacking, there are times when you come under the cosh and we need to be a solid bank of five and we were finding that we were a solid bank of three."
"We've analyzed the Grimsby match and to be fair we had 21 shots that night and how we lost the game 2-0, I don't know. I'm sure our supporters who went to the game have never seen anything like it before so it hasn't been a disaster and I've never said I'm going to bin the formation."
"There are places to go and play 4-5-1 but we were just concerned if we could do it at home games as it's a counter attacking formation but if you have the players that are comfortable in the formation then I don't see why you can't use it at home."
"Ian Goodison is not a massive talker, it's all about performance with him, it's how he plays. Ben is playing a lot better now alongside him and both full backs are playing well and are both attack minded - they're as good as anybody at this level - I think it's just his sheer presence that makes them play as a unit."
"Shuker is showing the belief in his ability, it's taken him a while to get over his injuries, he's never had injuries before and he's had three on the trot. They do knock you but now he's got that belief back and a bit of confidence 20 minutes of Shuker's ability and crossing range can win you the game."
"Accrington is a tough game there's no doubt about that. They are at their ground with the slope, there should be a right cup atmosphere and we're looking forward to it, but the draw could have been nicer to us we would have liked a home game really but you can't always get in life what you want."
"We have to go there and produce. Terry Gornell will not play in the game there is no way that can happen, there is nothing worse as a manager if you let a player play, you know what happens - you end up losing 1-0 and he scores the goal and everybody says what an idiot why did you let him play?"
"He is doing well there. John Coleman is looking after him and the experience is great, he's got three in four and had one kicked off the line at the weekend and I thank John for giving him the opportunity."
"Everybody is fine apart from Edds who has picked up a little groin strain but he will go up the training ground today and we'll take it from there and if he's not right then Charlie will come in."
"Charlie came on Friday and I was impressed with his first time touches and he was even confident enough to take the free kick when it was awarded. He's got great ability and it's nice to see him looking like the Charlie we know he can be, he was unbelievable in pre season but like all youngsters they have a little dip, but his dip was rather major and it was concerning but he's listening and learning and got himself right."
"He understands now that he's got to work as well and not just sit in there spraying balls all over, you've got to get a sweat on as well. I think the penny's dropped and we've got a hell of a player."
