Deadly Submarine once again gives us his views of the latest Rovers match as Ronnie Moore's men triumphed 2-0 at home to Crewe Alexandra on Friday night thanks to goals from Steven Jennings and Chris Shuker in the second half after a sluggish start to the game.

Tranmere  2 - 0  Crewe Alex

Weather Report

A dry night that wasn't cold enough to require a coat (in my opinion) and plenty of fireworks were visible in what was clear night sky.

Crowd

5,790 were inside the Prenton Park which was an improvement on the disappointing sub-5000 total for Tuesday night's win over Cheltenham Town.  Despite their current situation, Crewe were fairly well supported even if their Manager wasn't.

Referee Watch

Stuart Atwell (Warwickshire) - On his return to the football pitch following his recent suspension for the goal that never was at Reading, Mr Atwell had a quiet game and despite it looking unintentional, was left with no choice but to send off Crewe's Billy Jones with three minutes remaining for being the last man  - 8/10

Best Moment

Both goals were great moments of course but Shuker's run after Lawrence's misjudgement and the finish that followed was a moment to remember from the game and finally settled the tie despite over twenty minutes remaining.

Funniest Moment

The linesman on the Main Stand side of the pitch fell over in the first half which was a comical moment worthy of mention.

Tranmere Man of the Match

Chris Shuker - Much credit must go to Danny Coyne, particularly in the first half but once again Chris Shuker was the main man with another goal and another assist to add to his two assists and a goal in the previous two matches.  Shukes is clearly back to his best and Tranmere are reaping the benefits.

Connections

Crewe had former Rovers player Calvin Zola on the bench who was in the end unused.  Chris McCready is also at Crewe but is currently injured and therefore missed out.

Rovers Fans

There was something of an atmosphere at times in the Kop and the Main Stand school section was noisy for a time but the atmosphere has been better than it was tonight.

Crewe Fans

The Alex fans were more focussed on trying to get rid of their Manager with banners and chanting but they did get behind their team and even had a dig at the ‘quiet' Rovers Fans.

Summary

Another great win and now three wins on the bounce for Ronnie and the boys.  The recent success of the squad away from home has always beentempered with calls for an improved home form and suddenly it seems the squad have turned the corner. Until Saturday evening at least, Rovers are in the play-offs!  Bring on Stockport on Tuesday night!

Entertainment Value

Another poor first half just as it was against Cheltenham on Tuesday and against Crewe a few weeks ago in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.  forced to attack more and Rovers had mmore of the game. 7/10
