Weather Report
Dry and not too cold - at least until the closing stages of the game when it started to get a bit chilly.
Crowd
4,535 were in attendance at the game with very few brave souls making the long and difficult midweek trip up from Cheltenham to support their team. Hopefully Tranmere can take a few more down to their Ground for the return game which is also on a Tuesday night.
Referee Watch - Mike Oliver (Northumberland)
The referee had a very good game throughout with the three yellow cards he dished out all worthy of a caution although some may argue that Jennings and possibly Shotton too were lucky to escape with just a yellow card - 9/10
Best Moment
The goal that turned the game was the best moment as Chris Shuker who has now proved he is back to his best, put in a perfect cross for Bas Savage to head home and give Rovers the lead.
Worst Moment
The first half as a spectacle was a pretty dull affair and did little to lift an already quiet crowd bar some songs from the Kop and the children in the Bebington End of the Main Stand.
Funniest Moment
Cheltenham Manager Martin Allen's red tanktop and tracky bottoms combination may have been a bid to outdo Bas Savage's dress code from Saturday's game at Leyton Orient.
Tranmere Man of the Match
Chris Shuker - After a superb performance on Saturday, some may have wondered if that was a one off for Shukes but in this game he once again proved what a quality player he can be for Rovers. His two crosses for the goals and his defence splitting pass to Ian Moore who could have made it 3-0 were the highlights of another great Shuker performance.
Connections
Cheltenham Manager Martin Allen was linked with the Rovers job before Ronnie Moore was eventually appointed but that was the only real link between the two sides this time around.
Cheltenham Town Fans
Credit must go to the fans that made the long trip on a Tuesday night but they were never really heard from the other end of the Stadium.
Rovers Fans
The Kop and the school group in the Bebington End of the Main Stand made themselves heard at times but the atmosphere seemed mostly very flat in the first half but did liven up once the Rovers team did in the second period.
Entertainment Value
The first half was a dire affair and reflected the 0-0 scoreline well. The second half was much better and Rovers applied most of the pressure and ran out deserved winners in the end - 5/10.
Summary
After a run of three straight home defeats in the League this result will do not only the League position but the confidence of the squad the power of good ahead of another home game against Crewe Alexandra on Friday night.
