Gaffer Moore Signs New Two Year Deal!

Rovers Boss Ronnie Moore has today signed a new two year contract that will keep him at Prenton Park until the summer of 2010. There had been much speculation that Moore would be told he could not stay due to the apparent disappointment amongst some Rovers Fans.
Tranmere Rovers Manager Ronnie Moore has today signed a new two-year contract which will keep him at the Club until at least the summer of 2010.
For some Rovers fans, this news will be both unwelcome and controversial but we believe that the news is a victory for common sense and more importantly stability at the Club which has been lacking in recent years.
Financially, the decision to offer Moore a new contract for two years is a risky one with season ticket sales for 2008/09 already rumoured to be low and with many fans refusing to buy season tickets if Moore remained in charge.
However, if Rovers have a good season, more fans may end up paying on the gate for games which financially will be better for Rovers if these fans attended regularly.
Moore took over as Rovers Manager in June 2006 following the departure of previous Boss Brian Little after a season which saw Rovers almost relegated to League Two and by the end of his first season in charge at the Club he had guided Rovers to a much improved 9th place finish.

After some more decent signings last summer, Rovers started well and were even top of the League at one stage but long-term injuries to wingers Steve Davies and then Chris Shuker seemed to have a bad effect on the results and Rovers slipped to an eventual 11th place finish.
Without these injuries, there was every chance that Rovers' early season form may have continued much longer and who knows what may have happened but after the far too early departures of both Brian Little and Ray Mathias before him, it would have been easy for the Club to take advantage of Moore being out of contract.
Speaking to the Official Tranmere Rovers Website this morning, Lorraine Rogers said.....
"Ronnie has made some very good signings in his two seasons and was unfortunate with injuries to key players in 2007-08."
"He is making preparations for next season and hopefully we will push for promotion to the Championship."
Ronnie Moore himself said.........
"I'm delighted to have the opportunity to take the Club forward. Tranmere has been a big part of my life, as a footballer, coach and now Manager. It means a lot to me that I have the chance to be the one who guides the Club back into the Championship."
"We're not a million miles away from being a very good side at this level. With the right three or four new faces in this summer, hopefully we'll be a real force in the division."
"I'd like to thank the owners, Chairman and Board of Directors for giving me this opportunity."
In our view the Club have made the fair and correct decision and we now look forward to 2008/09 under the guidance of Ronnie Moore once again - let's hope his signings are as good as some of his past finds.

He has improved over the course of the season and games such as Bournemouth away he looked dangerous when he came on.
Moore will bring in some great players in the summer and we'll re-assess at the end of the July.
