Friday 11th January 2008 - Kick-Off 7.45pm

Coca-Cola League One at Prenton Park

By Deadly Submarine

Friday Night Football returns to Prenton Park this week as Bristol Rovers are the visitors in Coca-Cola League One.

The Gas, as they are famously known, will hope to be the team that ends a run of three straight wins at home for Ronnie Moore's men after Bournemouth, Carlisle and Cheltenham were dispatched with just one goal conceded in the final weeks of 2007.

In between home games, Tranmere's away form has not been so encouraging (an exact opposite to earlier in the season when it was the other way around) but they still sit six points away from the play-offs with just under half the season still remaining.

Away from home the Rovers from Bristol have won just two (and lost four) of their last six away games compared to four wins and two defeats for Tranmere at home.

The two sides last met in the 1992/93 season in the Second Division (now called the Championship of course).

In the August of that season, Tranmere won 2-1 at Prenton Park before the Gas got their revenge on their patch with a 1-0 victory thanks to a second half goal.

A win for Tranmere would see them leapfrog Yeovil Town into eighth place overnight and would ensure that only Yeovil themselves can go ahead of Rovers the following day.  A win for Bristol would see them move up four places overnight and six points clear of the relegation zone.

Get behind the lads and enjoy the game and the Friday night atmosphere!

Team News

Tranmere Rovers

In addition to Ian Goodison's third game of a four match ban for his New Years Day dismissal, Rovers are also without Shane Sherriff who was sent off in the second half of Saturday's 3-0 away defeat to Leyton Orient so Carl Tremarco who replaced Sherriff at left-back in that game is likely to start there.

Chris Greenacre (hamstring) could return but Steve Davies and Chris Shuker (both knee ligaments) will miss the rest of the season.

Bristol Rovers

Bristol Rovers are boosted by the return of their captain Stuart Campbell from suspension but his fellow midfield player Chris Carruthers is banned.

Ryan Green (achillles) may be in contention to return after injury.

Match Referee - Carl Boyeson (East Yorkshire)
