All the News and Statistics ahead of Rovers visit to Gillingham on Friday night in Coca-Cola League One for a game that will be televised live on Sky Sports. Rovers will be looking to notch their first away win since the 1-0 victory over Brighton in November.

Tranmere head to Gillingham this Friday evening whilst most of their fans will have the luxury of staying in the warmth of their own homes or the local Pub to watch the Rovers for the first time in quite a while.

 

However, being live on Sky Television has not been a good thing for Rovers in recent years in League matches with a 4-0 drubbing at Cardiff and a 3-1 defeat to Luton springing to mind for many Rovers fans.

 

Rovers will be seeking revenge for the game between the two sides at Prenton Park back in December after the Whites let slip a 2-0 lead that they had gained within five minutes of the start but to the horror of the home fans, the Gills had turned to the game around by half-time to win 3-2.

 

Greenacre and Shuker had put Rovers in front before a brace from Mulligan and a winner Chorley before half-time saw the points head back to Kent.

 

Last season, Rovers took the lead twice against the Gills at Prenton Park but were pegged back on both occasions by goals from Darren Byfield, one of which was a penalty as the game ended 2-2.

 

Rovers also took the lead in the return game at the Priestfield through loan midfielder Steven O’Leary but again it was Byfield who did the damage as the Gills earned a 1-1 draw.

 

There is no Byfield this year for the Gills has he now plays for Gillingham’s League One rivals Millwall and Gillingham are in  poor run of form having won just one of their last six games as well as losing their last two home games as well.

 

Rovers have only lost one of their last six games on the road, at Bristol City two weeks ago after bring 2-0 in front at half-time and Rovers last six results home and away have been inconsistent, winning two, drawing three and losing one.

 

For those who are going to Kent, get behind the lads and enjoy the game and for those going to the Pub or watching in their own homes let’s hope Rovers can do us proud in front of the nation.

 

 

Gillingham

 

Gills have Ian Cox suspended following his sending off at the weekend whilst Brent Sancho and  Alan Pouton (back) are also missing and Mark Bentley is a doubt.

 

Matty Jarvis will face a late fitness test for Gills.

Tranmere Rovers

Rovers could be without injured defender Ian Goodison who has an ankle injury but striker Chris Greenacre has recovered from flu and should return to the starting line-up at the expense of Calvin Zola.
