All the News and Statistics ahead of Rovers visit to Bristol on Saturday in Coca-Cola League One to face in form Bristol City. After what has been thought of as a poor run (if we are to win promotion) Tranmere face a tough away match where a draw would be a very good result.

Next up for Rovers is Bristol City, with the best home form in the league having been beaten just once while only 2 teams have escaped with a point.  The task is daunting on a day which sees games between Scunthorpe and Oldham as well as Yeovil and Forrest.  A win would be fantastic but a point seems like a realistic aim.

 

Last year saw 2 defeats against Bristol, 3-0 at home and 1-0 away.  Tomorrows referee Paul Mellin refereed the home defeat so lets hope it’s not a bad omen!  Earlier this season saw what was probably one of the best results of the season, following some off the pitch trouble a demoralised Bristol travelled to Prenton Park missing 3 key players due to jail sentences and a last John Mullin goal gave Rovers the 3 points they deserved after a well organised Bristol defence almost escaped with a point

 

Bristol have won 5 or their last 6 home games having drawn 2-2 with Bournemouth having come from 2 goals down to score 2 in the last 15 minutes.  Striker Phil Jevons will also have to be watched closely as the ex-Everton trainee has notched up 12 goals this year equal with our own Chris Greenacre.

 

Bristol started the campaign well with a win against current leaders Scunthorpe but 3 successive defeats (4 including the carling cup) overshadowed this win.  The side then got on track recording 6 wins in 7 games the one blip coming at Prenton Park!  From then on its been a mixed campaign consisting mainly of wins and draws with just 2 defeats since playing Tranmere.

 

As always it’s an important game for Tranmere and even more so giving Bristol’s league position and the opportunity to catch up on the 4 point lead they have over us.  Danny Harrison looks likely to start and Carl Tremarco may even play right back due to suspensions for John Mullin and Robbie Stockdale

Captain Louis Carey looks set to return for City. Other than that Bristol have no injury worries.

 

Tranmere Rovers:

 

John Mullin and Robbie Stockdale are both injured while John Achterberg returns to the subs bench as Joe Hart stays in goal.

 

Olly James is still out of action.
