All the News and Statistics ahead of Rovers visit to Huddersfield on Boxing Day in Coca-Cola League One as Rovers look to bounce back from the dismal home defeat to Gillingham on Saturday.

Next up for Tranmere is Huddersfield.  Most will remember the second half collapse a few months back when Rovers threw away a 2 goal first half lead, eventually drawing 2-2.  While last Saturday wasn’t much different and Tranmere threw a 2 goal lead away and ended being beaten 3-2.  Poor defending (and goalkeeping) was the main culprit and now Tranmere need a win to keep the pressure on Scunthorpe and other teams at the top.

 

Last year saw Rovers win one and lose one against Huddersfield the loss a 1-0 defeat after an 87^th minute winner courtesy of Schofield.  The win meanwhile saw an early Carl Tremarco goal cancelled out by a Graham goal in the 48^th minute, until that man Delroy Facey grabbed the winner with a great goal in the 84^th minute.

 

After this seasons giveaway at home to Huddersfield, Tranmere will be looking to get revenge by coming home from the Galpharm with 3 points and setting themselves up well for a big away clash at the City Ground on the 30^th.

 

Huddersfield are without a win in 9 and are desperate to stop the rot, which finds them in 17^th, to close to the relegation spots for comfort.  They drew 0-0 at Chesterfield on Saturday.  Tranmere meanwhile dropped to sixth place after going 2 up in 5 minutes and ending the half 3-2 down.

 

Tranmere's recent away form has matched that of Huddersfield’s with both sides winning 1 drawing 3 and losing 2 in their last 6 games.  Rovers however will be looking to keep the pressure on the leaders with a practically fully fit squad against a team in terrible form.

 

It’s an important game for Tranmere on Boxing Day and lets hope Ronnie Moore and co keep the celebrations to a minimum until after the game of course!!  Get behind the lads and lets hope for a good win. 

 

 

Huddersfield Town

 

Terriers skipper Jon Worthington is a doubt with a groin problem that kept him out of the goalless draw with Chesterfield at the weekend.

 

Striker Pawel Abbott who has missed seven games after a hernia operation, made a substitute appearance in the last game and should be available for this game. 

 

Tranmere Rovers

Rovers only doubt for this game is player-coach Jason McAteer who will be out for around three more weeks with a knee injury.
