Tranmere have today announced that they have extended the contract of star defender Ian Goodison for a further two years subject to a work permit renewal.
Goodison Signs Contract Extension!
Following in the footsteps of striker Calvin Zola last week, Jamaican defender Ian Goodison today penned a new deal with the Club that will keep him at the Club until 2009 The extension of the deal is subject to the renewal of his work permit.
Ian signed for Rovers in February 2004 and made his debut in the 1-1 draw away at Oldham Athletic.
After a disappointing season last year when being played out of position at left-back by former Rovers Boss Brian Little, Goodison has cemented himself as a fans favourite this season with some fantastic performances that have also seen him appear in the League One Team of the Week on several occasions.
Speaking to the Official Tranmere Rovers Website, Manager Ronnie Moore said of Goodison:
"It is great for the Club that Ian has signed his new contract. He has been our top player this season and is playing in the position he is most comfortable.”
"He is the best centre back in the division and it shows the Club's ambition that we have kept hold of his services."
