All the pre-match team news and statistics ahead of Rover’s visit to the Sixfields Stadium to face Northampton on Saturday. Rovers will be looking to keep the pressure on first place Nottingham forest and also try and repeat the score of rovers last visit to the Sixfields stadium when they won 4-0.

Tranmere travel to the Sixfields stadium to face Northampton on Saturday in a League One game. Tranmere will be looking to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat in midweek with a win and keep the pressure on Nottingham Forest

 

After 8 games Rovers are 2^nd with Northampton 20^th.  Northampton picked up their first home point with a 1-1 draw with Yeovil on Tuesday night and will be looking to add more to their tally as Tranmere attempt to stay at the top end of the table.

 

Tranmere having lost their second game of the season on Tuesday night away at Rotherham will be looking to bounce back as they did after their last defeat with a 5 game unbeaten run which included 4 wins and a draw.

 

Northampton will be looking to add more points to there campaign after a difficult start, which included games against Forest, Bristol and Brentford.

 

The last meeting between the two sides was at the Prenton Park when Rovers won 4-0 thanks to goals from Nicholson, Howarth, Anderson and Hay.  The only player left from that game still in the rovers team is however John Achterberg.

 

Tranmere will be looking to keep up a good start to the season while Northampton will be looking to kick start theirs with a home win against Tranmere, it promises to be a tough match for the Rovers.

 

 

Northampton Town:

 

Northampton could give loan signing Mitchell Cole a first start while Joe Burnell picked up a hamstring injury during the week and will miss the game

 

Ex Tranmere player Sam Aiston is also ruled out along with Fred Murray, although Eoin Jess is fit and Jerome watt may feature

 

Tranmere Rovers:

 

Chris Greenacre may miss out after limping off during Tranmere’s defeat to Rotherham with a calf injury, while rovers player-coach Jason Mcateer will definatly miss out after surgery on a cartilage problem, while Danny Harrison is also ruled out with an injury to his foot
