At the beginning of April I moved house. Nothing strange in that you might think. In the same week I moved, I contacted Chelsea Football Club to advise them of my new address (knowing that renewal forms for season-tickets were being sent out later in the month).
When I telephoned the club I was expecting to be told that I would have to write in with the new details. Fortunately both mine and '18 Years A Blue' (as we are both season-ticket holders) details were changed there and then over the phone - job done - Oh Happy Days!!! The week of sending out of season ticket renewals came and went, nothing was received. The next week, nothing and the following week, nothing. So I got back on the phone, explained my circumstances and ask for replacement forms to be sent out as soon as possible, simply because the deadline of May 31st was fast approaching. Imagine my surprise when I was told that it wasn't possible to send out duplicate forms because, 'we are too busy' and was told 'that you would have to come to the Box Office to collect the forms.' As hard as I tried to compress my anger I replied 'well I am TOO busy to take the day off work to come and collect them,' but I felt I had no choice despite asking again for the Box Office co-operation. So with '20 Years a Blue's' offer which I had to take up, off she went the next day during her lunch hour to collect the required forms. Oh Happy Days!!! Ermmm NO! When she gets there she was told that there were no more forms available at all to anybody. Despite pleading her case and providing evidence of our holding season tickets for the season just finished all she was given was a leaflet outlining the payment plan which Chelsea have given option again for the second successive season. When she pointed out that she needed two of these forms, she was told she would have to come back next week when there would be more available. Happy Days, OH YEAH RIGHT! Here we are. Renewal date counting down faster than a rocket launch. The possibility of the impending Bank Holiday losing us one day for the Royal Mail to deliver my letter and she is told to COME BACK NEXT WEEK! My God! What are these people on! Don't these people realise that there are two people wanting to give their money (well at least my money) to a club that has been a part of this family' whole life and here they are, making life as difficult as they possibly can. We all know the coup. If I don't get my season tickets renewed, there will be others who would buy them in a heartbeat. But I don't want any others to have my tickets, I want them and I want them for as long as I walk this sorry Earth!! So yesterday I sent off the original leaflet and a photocopy (for 18 Years A Blue), proof of being season ticket holders for last season and a strongly worded letter which included a sentence alond the lines of 'Chelsea maybe the Premiership Champions on the field, but off the field Chelsea's administration is no better than in the Nationwide Conference! (No offence NC). COME ON THE CHELS, SORT IT OUT!! Will keep you informed!! 40 YEARS A BLUE!
