The Academy without Scott Sinclair who has been promoted to the reserve team (playing tonight against Arsenal), won on Saturday against West Ham at Cobham from a solitary headed goal on five minutes from Jimmy Smith.

Sam Hurrell who has made three Academy appearances wasn't involved in the starting eleven or as one of the playing substitutes.

Overall, coach Brendan Rodgers was pleased with the result and the performance of the team. He said, "We were outstanding in the first-half. The game got a little bit tight in the second-half but I was delighted overall. Our performance had quality.

"Sam Hutchinson has moved into centre-half (he has played full-back most of the season) and was determined and reliable. And Jimmy Smith gave us confidence."
