For sixty minutes during this early kickoff clash, it looked on numerous occasions that the curse of the Manager of the Month was going to betray the League leaders and bite the asp of JM with some venom. It is difficult enough to try a break down eleven players wearing black (with white as well) without the ref Rob Styles, trying to act as Newcastle's twelfth man. All I can say is that Rob Styles does love his whistle and the majority of his decisions DID favour the Barcode shirt wearers.

Frank Lampard won a man of the match award, but to me and my post match drinking partners, we owe our man of the match nominations to Peter Cech. Three times he thwarted Newcastle. Lauren Robert (twice from dangerous free kicks the first a spectacular save to his high right) and from Bellamy, closing down as the Welsh International bore down on goal. Ironically I had written in my preview that for me if these two players 'had there footballing heads on' they could cause Chelsea problems. I do not think I was too wrong. Significantly after these chances both Robert and Bellamy were never to be seen again.

Chelsea did manage a goal from John Terry which unfortunately was disallowed and Chelsea's only other 1st half efforts came from Tiago which swerved around before stinging the mostly unemployed Given in the Barcodes goal and how Eidersson missed a glorious opportunity after confusion in the Newcastle defence, only he knows.

With the half time score at 0-0, JM introduced the Did man in place of Eidersson. The formation improved slightly, half chances were created and GIven was the busier of the two keepers. But JM showed his tactical awareness and shrewdness. By withdrawing Tiago and Gallas and replacing them with Bridge and Kezman, JM could see that going 4-4-2 would bring its rewards and within nine minutes of the double substitution Chelsea were 2-0 up and eight points clear (for two hours at least) at the top of the Premiership. I for one was relieved that the potential asp was dead. Firstly Super Frank danced around the Newcastle defence before hitting the back of the net so hard, the ball bounced out and then the Did Man brought the ball under control before hitting a curler round Shay Given which nestled into the botton right of the net.

Chelsea's third came from the Barclays Player of the Month Rockin Robbern, who enjoyed so much more freedom once the formation had been changed, scoring his fifth goal in as many games and the fourth came from a Kezzer penalty when Given had upended Duff right on the stroke of half time.

Big up for Super Frankie Lampard (our normal penalty taker). For the second time this season he gave away the opportunity to claim a goal by letting Kezman have the chance to record his first goal in the Premiership. For all of the fans backing he did not let us down. Coolly chipping the diving Given before being swamped by his over eager team mates. Such courage and skill for someone who has had trouble adapting to life in the best League in the World. COME ON KEZMAN.

For a number of years now, I have never known such support and loyalty to a 'new' player such as Kezman in for him these difficult times. And it is so pleasing to see that Kezman really does appreciate and loves the fans support. COME ON KEZMAN.

Barcode Boys. You could well do with something like Kezman. Especially with the way that some of your top boys let you down today.
