Bobby Tambling, Chelsea’s all-time record goal scorer on 202 goals was in attendance at The Bridge yesterday and at half-time when he was presented to the faithful, he had witnessed Super ‘201 goal’ Frankie Lampard edge even closer to his long-standing goal-scoring record.

Super Frank scored goal number 201 by converting a penalty in first-half stoppage time to give Chelsea a winning 2-0 lead, three points and third place in the race for Champions League qualification.

Super ‘201 goals’ Frankie Lampard had actually started the game on the bench and it was Ramires misfortune to get injured midway through the first-half that allowed Super Frank his fortune in getting one of the two goals remaining which will equal Tambling’s record.

Remarkably that substitution was the only one Fatty made throughout the entire game and what was even more remarkable, Fatty started ‘Captain, Leader, Legend, One England Captain’ JT for a second successive match.

Super Frank’s introduction, does beg the question. If Ramires hadn’t got injured, would Super Frank have got on at all?

Chelsea took the lead a couple of minutes earlier when JT played the ball into Super Frank who then fed in Oscar who then rifled home into the far bottom corner from just inside the area.

After the game Fatty issued an update on Ramires’ injury. He said, “Ramires has a dead leg but I think he will be fine for Thursday.”

Of the game Fatty said, “Always to win is good. To score two goals and a clean sheet at this stage of the season with so many games and to play very good football in attack with our combinations, I am really pleased.

“We could have scored a third and finished the game but we didn’t. You could see sometimes Swansea had a threat between the lines but to get three points and do it in this way we have to be really pleased.

“We have to go to the last game, so we have to do our job, win our games, manage the squad and if we can play the attacking football we did especially in the second half I think we will score goals and be okay.

“The team has to defend as a unit. We have to be compact, protect each other and then we are defending well. Sometimes when they go forward it’s not easy for them to stay together but if we create chances, teams will be scared of us.”
