Instrumental in our 2-0 win over Barcelona in the last round of the NextGen series, right-back Todd Kane has rejoined Blackburn Rovers on another month’s loan. It is a decision I find baffling and encouraging at the same time. Baffling in that the loan spell was completed on the eve of the U19s NextGen quarter-final against Juventus this lunchtime and encouraging that finally Todd could be on the verge of joining the first-team squad next season.

On his last Ewood Park adventure, Todd played four times for Rovers and it is anticipated that he will be involved in Rovers local derby tussle against Burnley today.

If you haven’t seen Todd play in the U19s or U21s, he is basically a right-back engine, storming up and down the flank and he possesses an extremely powerful shot.

I hope the team will not be affected by his absence today.

The U19s kick-off against Juventus at 12.30pm at Brentford’s Griffin Park and there will be LIVE updates on the board below. Team news will be published as soon as it becomes available.

At 4pm the first-team kick-off against West Ham who inflicted fatty’s first league defeat back in November, after two uninspiring 0-0 home draws to Man City and Fulham.

After Thursday night’s endeavours I expect more rotung rotation, beginning with ‘Captain, Leader, Legend, One England Captain,’ JT who has probably been given leave of absence to collect his car from somewhere in Surrey’s leafy countryside.

West Ham look likely to be without Kevin Nolan and Mark Noble, both injured and ex-legend Joe Cole is a major doubt with a hamstring injury.

West Ham haven’t won at The Bridge in the League since 2002 when they prevailed 3-2 and two years ago West Ham were the recipients of Fernando Torres first Chelsea goal as Chelsea won 3-0.

The Griffin Park pitch wasn't in the best condition for Chelsea's style of football, which was unsurprising considering a league game was played on it not 24 hours before.

However it front a a reasonable sized crowd, Chelsea took the game to Juventus and didn't allow the visitors to settle causing the Juve coach to make two substitutions on 30 minutes with Chelsea leading 2-0, thanks to a cracker from Lewis Baker (skipper for the day) and Kiwomya.

Juventus made a better game of it in the second half and Jamal Blackman was busier than he was in the first-half.

After making a string of good saves he was finally beaten by a flicked header and the scoreline made for a nervy last 15 minutes.

However further goals from Feruz and Baker's second after a wonderful flick from Charlie Colkett calmed the nerves and sent Chelsea into the NextGen semi-final/final weekend in Italy on Easter weekend.
