I wish I could say the updates below are coming LIVE from Barcelona’s Mini Estadi (a stone’s throw from the magnificent Camp Nou/Nou Camp, whichever is your preference) but sadly I cannot but I can say how envious I am of those who will be making the trip to Spain to watch our U19s take on the might of Barcelona’s talented youngsters.

Barcelona qualified for the last 16 as group winners, whereas Chelsea, who finished third in their qualifying group, qualified as one of four third place teams with the most points.

Chelsea won two, drew three and lost one scoring twelve goals, conceding six.

Chelsea’s squad in qualifying included: Mitchell Beeney, Alex Davey, Anders Christensen, Adam Nditi, Lewis Baker, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Alex Kiwomya, Islam Feruz, Jermaine Boga, John Swift, Blackman, Danny Pappoe, Nathan Ake, George Saville, Lucas Piazon (now on loan at Malaga), Patrick Bamford (now on loan at MK Dons), Connor Hunte.

A lot of the above players were involved in Chelsea’s 3-0 FA Youth Cup win against Barnsley last week, with the exception of Feruz and Swift who at the time of writing are still unavailable through injury.

The squad trained last night utilising Barca's training facilities. This morning they went on the Nou Camp tour and the coaches had lunch with their counterparts.

They say football is all about learning. Chelsea obviously learned a lot from the first team last season in the Nou Camp.

The team tonight soaked up an awful lot of pressure and for 40 mins in the second-half were down to 10 men.

Fully deserved victory and crash bang wallop two goals - one at the end of the first-half from Feruz and the second from the brilliant Boga at the end of the second half sealed a wonderful win.
