Shaun Wright-Phillips who came on as an early first-half substitute stunned ‘The Portly One,’ Chelsea and the faithful with a vicious low 20 yarder into the bottom right-hand corner of Turnbull’s net, in front of the ecstatic Shed End housing the 3,000 or so Rangers fans. It was a strike hit that hard I doubt Cechie Boy, had he not been injured, would have saved.
Before the game, ‘The Portly One’ spoke of rotation again,(Isn’t he a master?), energy levels, tiredness, fatigue etc , etc, etc but no-one could have expected Mata, Hazard, Cole and Ramires beginning the night on the bench.
If FSW thought he was beginning to win the fans over, last night’s team selection, took him a dozen or so steps backwards.
FSW. If you wanna play with fire, expect to get burnt and that is exactly what happened at The Bridge last night.
Chelsea produced one of their famous ‘let’s just turn up and we will do them’ performances.

There was no creativity, energy, ideas to get past two banks of red and white shirts and when Chelsea did managed to create the odd chance here or there, as usual they were wasted – the biggest culprit being Moses, who, with an open goal at his mercy, fathomed to get the slightest touch to send the ball wide across the goal and past the far post.
Ivanovic, so deadly with his headers, sent one scraping the top of the bar and a second just over the top, when it looked easier to score and Torres again bereft of any decent service (and not for the first time) had a close range shot blocked by Cesar (who said, ‘I am joining QPR to win the title…. Snigger…. Ed).
With all the goals that Chelsea have scored in recent weeks, last night was the third time Chelsea have failed to score in four league games at The Bridge since ‘The Portly One,’ took charge for his first game against Money Citeh at the end of November and it’s the 2nd time this season, Chelsea have failed to score against QPR…. And they are struggling at the bottom of the table!!
