Abramovich has sacked managers that have won the League, FA Cup, League Cup, Community Shield and this morning he sacked the man that FINALLY won him the coveted ‘holy grail,’ ‘big ears,’ yes the Champions League and also a side portion of the FA Cup.

So what is it that Abramovich really wants?

In Chelsea’s statement announcing Bobby Di’s departure this morning, Chelsea cited ‘results and performances’ as not being up to the required standard.

Well the board and the owner should really wake up and smell the coffee.

A team and I mean any team cannot perform to a consistently high standard, week after week and get consistent results. At the end of the day, getting the result should be at the top of priorities with entertainment and performance trailing behind.

Bobby Di gambled last night with his team selection, Hazard went up top and despite Sturridge injuring his hamstring, Bobby Di decided to drop Torres to the bench then in his post-match assessment, Bobby Di was brave enough to admit publicly ‘I made mistakes, the responsibility is mine.’

The defeat leaves Chelsea almost dropping through the Thursday night football trap-door and a ‘new’ challenge of the Europa League and all this before the club fly out to Japan to compete in the club world cup in a few weeks’ time.

It is reported that Bobby Di had words whispered in his ear straight after the game that Abramovich wasn’t happy and at 5am this morning, the grim reaper arrived at Cobham Halls to put Bobby Di out of his misery.

It is easy to write this now but to be honest I didn’t think Bobby Di would last the length of his contract such is Chelsea's quick hire and fire policy, but no way could anybody have foreseen the events of the last 24 hours or so and then to add insult to injury, Chelsea are planning to offer Rafa Benitez, hated and maligned by Chelsea fans, a short term contract until Guardiola is ready to return to football from his year long sabbatical.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Bobby Di for his efforts in turning round the abyss of AvB starting with the FA Cup replay win at Birmingham City, overturning the Napoli deficit, beating Barcelona fairly and squarely at The Bridge, which erased that awful night in 2009, drawing in the Nou Camp, winning the FA Cup and FINALLY lifting the Champions League trophy on that unforgettable night in Munich six months and two days ago!
