I have been disturbed all day by the remarks published in yesterday’s match-day programme by Chairman Bruce Buck, remarks that really should have been kept in-house. With Bobby Di having done such a magnificent job in guiding Chelsea through the troubles of AvB, Buck’s comments, for me, have seriously underminded all of Bobby Di’s good work.

Buck said, ‘We were all very disappointed with the result on Tuesday night in Liverpool. We just couldn’t get into the game, and we played to Liverpool’s tune.’

And then totally contradicting himself he said, ‘But if we had the choice to win the FA Cup Final or Tuesday night’s game, I know which one I would have picked. So, in that sense, I am satisfied.’

Buck then said and this is the Bobby Di hammer-blow, ‘Whatever the result today, we will finish sixth in the Premier League. We do not consider that to be satisfactory and Roman and the board will be working over the summer to try and ensure that doesn’t happen again.’

So what does a manager/coach have to do to keep their job?

Obviously not by winning the title, sic Mourinho (twice.)

Obviously not by winning the League and Cup double, sic Ancelotti

We all know about Abramovich’s obsession with winning the Champions League, the grail that has eluded Chelsea – beaten 2008 finalists, six semi-finals – so are you really telling me that Abramovich will let Bobby Di go (after Chelsea lift ‘Big Ears’ on Saturday night, FAITH, BELIEVE, KTBFFH!!)?

It has been well documented here that the Board really need to take a good look at themselves for causing the instability and unrest with all the chopping and changing of managers and coaches beginning with Claudio Ranieri’s demise, back in the day.

The board need to take responsibility to make sure they pick the right man, a man that will last out his contract and not wield the axe at the first opportunity, should things start to go wrong.

The majority of fans want Bobby Di and Steady Eddie to stay as per the chanting yesterday and I HOPE Abramovich and Buck were listening and I HOPE they were also listening to the 11^th minute Didier Drogba tribute.

Bobby Di is resigned to his fate though, he said “I have no problem. It has been great, we’ve had an intense few weeks together and emotional as I feel a big responsibility with this club as I’ve been such a big part of it.”

So who are Buck and the Board blaming for the sixth place finish – AvB, Bobby Di or the players?
