Napoli Preview: Di Matteo’s First Real Test

Perhaps a bit unfair calling it his first test given that our current manager wasn’t at the helm for the 1st leg, that said, this is the first top class opposition he has  faced since the recent trauma of AVB’s departure.  2-0 will do it – but can we go 90 minutes without conceding against possibly the most dangerous counter-attacking side in Europe?

I’ve had various conversations on the outcome of tonight’s match with other Chelsea supporters; the general consensus is that we will suffer in typical Chelsea fashion – something like going 2 nil up and conceding in the last minute, and my personal favourite – 3 nil up, ref to give a terrible decision against us which gives them a goal, extra time and then….we go out on penalties!

Talking of corruption and UEFA’s dislike for anything to do with us, it comes as no surprise that the Napoli coach, who was supposed to be suspended from the bench tonight, has had his ban lifted!

Many of us are expecting something daring from Di Matteo tonight.  Fair enough, we will have to be strong, compact and calm for some periods of the match but please please please let’s have a real go tonight.

Still, as regards my earlier pessimism, some might (quite rightly) tell me to grow a pair and get behind the team.  That I will certainly do.

Up the Chels!

I think we will do it

Defensively we were awful in Naples three weeks ago, but we have seemed to have settled down and the return of JT so quickly has to have a stablising effect, although he needs longer studs after slipping a couple of times at the weekend, HA HA HA

German ref tonight I believe. I hope he doesn't take any nonsense and has the strength to do what is right!!!
