It was as easy as the scoreline reads. Genk two down inside ten minutes had no where to go, but it didn't stop their fans having enjoying themselves and supporting their team throughout their painful ninety minutes. It is not the first time the opposition fans have made their voices known and outsung the home support at Stamford Bridge.

The 'so-called' boycott never materialised or did it?

38,518 filed into Stamford Bridge and only Chelsea will know how many paid and how many got in for 'free.'

Even the pre-match 'Liquidator' seemed muted, a sorry response for a classic that gets the hairs on my neck stand-up every time it is played.

Genk fans you have my respect and admiration and I just know you will create even a bigger and louder atmosphere when the clubs meet in Belguim in two weeks time.

The game gave a chance for Genk's youngster Kevin De Bruyne the opportunity to showcase his talents and in the first-half he gave Jose Bosingwa the run around.

But let's be honest, Bosingwa, despite his speed and attacking prowess down the right, can't defend to save his life.

At least SHOULD Chelsea sign De Bruyne in the January transfer window (at the second attempt), Chelsea will have a player that can cross a ball, consistently.

In the opening minutes, De Bruyne whipped in a teasing cross right on the edge of Chelsea's area, causing panic in Cech's defensive duties, leaving the giant Czech no option to chest the ball clear whilst outside of his area.

The night though belonged to Fernando Torres. Two thirds through a domestic suspension, as 'One England Captain' John Terry and Didier Drogba were given the night off, Torres looked sharp and at his best, the best Chelsea have seen him, since the £50million price tag was bundled over his head last January.

Torres scored two, but could have had four.

He hit the post before scoring his first and Chelsea's 2nd and just before Kalou banged home Chelsea's fifth, Genk's 'keeper Koteles saved from Torres from point blank range.

Torres overall performance was outstanding.

He made space for himself, he brought others into play, he covered every inch of grass on the right, left and middle.

Torres best moment of the night was producing footwork trickery that left three Genk players trailing in his wake and he played the whole game.

Raul Meireles opened the scoring with a low shot from outside the area which left Koteles flat-footed, Torres then added a second in quick succession, then he headed his second and Chelsea's third from a Meireles cross.

Up came Ivanovic from the back to score Chelsea's fourth with a close range header, four minutes from half-time and still those Genk fans housed in the Shed End, continued singing.

Spot on re the Genk fans (reminded me of us at away games in the 80's)....then again, it was a big day out for them.

VERY envouraged by Torres. I reckon he's "there" now.

Hopefully at QPR away we will be just as enthusiastic..and I reckon we will be.

Can't wait!
