Sunderland v Chelsea: Tough away?

By dixon9
September 10 2011

Sunderland away presents a tough prospect at times for us – we usually win but they make us work every inch for the points.  We can also feel encouraged that the Black Cats have lost 7 of their last 8 games at home.  That said, we haven't scored away yet...

Drogba is going to be rested after his head injury against Norwich so Torres should have plenty of time to get that confidence boosting goal he needs to chalk up.  The Spaniard has been looking very sharp this season but his expression can’t hide the fact that he’s not happy to have not managed to get off the mark yet.  We all know what will happen – once he scores one then the rest of the number 98 buses will all come soon after.

David Luiz (left) battle for the ball

Luiz to light the Light?

The good news is that the effervescent and soon to be (or maybe he already is?) cult hero David Luiz returns from injury.  The site of the Brazilian dynamo darting up and down the pitch, getting into all sorts of mischief, hair bouncing about, is a site to behold.  He’ll probably score 2 and give away a penalty…!

Cech is also now fit and Daniel Sturridge is champing at the bit after serving his 3 match suspension.  And let’s not us forget Lukaku who’s enthusiasm and hunger for the ball when he came on impressed against Norwich.

New midfield combination?

What should be really interesting is if new signing Meireles is available for selection and the subsequent combination with Mata.  All at Stamford Bridge witnessed the positive, creative effect and spark that Mata’s presence generated against Norwich.  This is what we have been crying out for for the past couple of seasons.

Sunderland striker Gyan will be missing through injury as is O’Shea but Bendtner should make his debut.

Come on Chels!

Not bad dixie

I wish Wenger had spent more. Think we're really going to struggle to finish in the top 4

Whats your impression of your new manager so far

Well..you havent answered my question...

Anyway...

Quite impressed so far with Villas-Boas. The expectancy was that we were going to get a Mourinho type manager in terms of preparation and coaching....yet one who gives licence for his players to attack and express themselves. Tall order...but I'm quietly optimistic.

Haha Dixie. In my lifetime of watching football all I've known is Wenger (I'm about a quarter your age, and 66 is probably 4 times my age grinning smiley)

I dont want him to go. I think he's being handicapped by the board, theres definitely big problems there.

Whats this travesty of chelsea charging us £56 and £59 for our game at yours this season!!! rovbbing b-stards grinning smiley
