Chelsea Football Club announced today that the friendly against Vitesse Arnhem has been cancelled. No reason for the cancellation was offered by the club, except for profuse apologies all round, but I suspect AvB got the game cancelled to give him more time to assess the squad when they report back for training on Saturday 2nd July.
The remainder of the pre-season line-up goes ahead as planned as Chelsea play at Portsmouth on the 16th July, then Chelsea travel to the Far East to play a Malaysia XI on the 21st July, Thailand All Stars on the 24th July, Kitchee on the 27th July, Aston Villa or Blackburn on the 30th July.
The club's final pre-season game is away to Glasgow Rangers on Saturday 6th August.
Fair enough I suppose. No point going in half-cocked.
