I won't be at Stamford Bridge tonight watching the first team play Birmingham because I reckon the Academy deserve my attention more, simply because they have the best chance of winning Chelsea Football Club a trophy this season.
At all
levels this season, Chelsea and Man United have battled it out.
The
first-team's (including the Community Shield) have played each other 4 times,
with United winning three – still at least Chelsea won the League game.
At
reserve level Chelsea played Man Utd at Altrincham FC on Monday night and
although Chelsea were beaten 4-1, the most heartening news from the game was
that Carl Magnay made his first appearance for 13 months after freakishly
sustaining a serious leg injury during a training session.
Carl was
captain and played nearly 60 minutes.
Welcome
back Carl, you made your promise good!!
Tonight
the Academy travel to Old Trafford leading 3-2 from the first leg and are
looking for the right to play Sheffield United in the FA Youth Cup Final.
Academy
coach Dermot Drummy says, "The fact that we have a one-goal lead doesn't
really have any bearing on the tactics, we just need to be strong in all areas
and go out with the philosophy to play attacking football."
Away
goals DO NOT count and Drummy welcomes back two individuals that missed the
first leg.
He said,
"We have our captain, Daniel Pappoe, available again after he was
suspended for the first game and we also have striker Philipp Prosenik back
available, which is fantastic.
"He
has come back from a long-term injury so that is really positive."
