Ray Wilkins is currently now formulating a response with regard to his shock sacking from Chelsea.  The Chelsea legend is consulting with The LMA (League Managers Association) and has issued a statement:

“I am very disappointed that the board decided that I had no further contribution to make at Chelsea Football Club which has played such a huge part in my life. Since rejoining the Club, I am extremely proud to have assisted in Chelsea’s recent successes. I enjoyed a fantastic relationship with the staff, players and the supporters and I now wish them all the very best for the future.

“The LMA's legal advisors are assisting me in obtaining answers to a number of questions arising from my undoubtedly unfair dismissal, and all efforts are being made to reach an amicable solution. I therefore will be making no further comment at this stage.”

Richard Bevan, chief executive of the LMA has also issued a statement:

“Ray’s departure from the club was certainly a surprise given the success that Chelsea enjoyed after his arrival, and the fact that they are reigning Barclays Premier League champions, and currently top this season's table. He has enjoyed an illustrious career to date which began with Chelsea and I share his disappointment and sadness at his leaving the Club.”

I admit that my initial thoughts after he was sacked were that he was too dignified to take any action - I still believe that he is a man of dignity and can only think that he was not given any form of respectable pay-off for his services by the club and has therefore decided to take steps.  If this is the case then I can’t blame him.

We are talking about a man who made his debut for us at 17 years of age and was captain at 18; a man who has given the club 37 years of service to Chelsea.  His treatment was shoddy to say the least and the timing of it was typical “shoot ourselves in the foot” Chelsea.  I and many others feel ashamed at the way he has been treated.

I am not sure who the driving force behind Ray’s sacking was.  Was it a case of Gourlay combing through the staff looking for cost cuttings in order to help reach break-even?  Did Abramovich approve or was the prime mover here?  Or does Abramovich put his trust in suits and let them get on with it – rewarding them or not according to the results of their actions?

It should be almost impossible for any supporter to wish for someone’s actions against your club to come to fruition – but this just might be one.

Well I agree

I thought though Wilkins contract wasn't going to be renewed hence his sudden departure.

If he was sacked and given a pay-off, then this become Wilkins' redemption

I dont blame him tbh
