Since Chelsea made it to the semi-finals, this game against Blackburn Rovers has been eagerly anticipated. It is Chelsea's second semi-final in three seasons, beating Charlton, Nottingham Forest, Portsmouth and Watford along the way conceding just one goal. The Academy warmed up at the weekend with a 2-0 win over Birmingham City at Cobham. Lalkovic and Sala were the scorers in each half.

Blackburn have beaten Man Utd and in the last round Everton 2-1 after extra time in their campaign and coach Dermot Drummy knows Chelsea will be in for a hard game - their toughest so far.

He said, "We played them in the first game of the season and lost 1-0 but I thought we did really well in that game. They've beaten Man Utd 3-0 and Everton in the last round, though that game could have gone either way to be fair, but they will be robust, and will cause us problems if we let them play, so we intend to go there and take the game to them.

"It's a semi-final so it's going to be tough, and we have to make sure mentally we turn up on the night.

"We have done really well with preparing, and Steve Holland has been brilliant. He has helped out giving us boys when we need them, trying to get us two days to train, which is really nice. Ray Wilkins has been to every game which is fantastic for the boys, and its a nice vibrancy around the place.

"We just hope the players can deliver over the two legs."

Team news will be published below once it becomes available but I think Chelsea will line-up as follows:

Sam Walker, Billy Clifford, Jeffrey Bruma, Danny Mills-Pappoe, Aziz Deen Conteh, Rohan Ince, Conor Clifford, Jacopo Sala, Milan Lalkovic, Marko Mitrovic, Gokhan Tore.

An accomplished and workmanlike performance by Chelsea against a tough and physical Blackburn Rovers side, and you can see why they overcame Everton in the last round.

The only goal of the game came from a Tore corner, knocked into his own net by Tom Hitchcock a Chelsea fan and the son of Kevin Hitchcock.

Deen-Conteh forced Swann into a brilliant save, Mitrovic hit the bar and Sam Walker had a quiet night. Gathering crosses with ease and comfort. He did however make a brilliant save from close range to keep his goal intact.

There were two sending offs. After a Sala tackle there was a mass brawl. Kaby Djalo was shown a red card for smacking Potts in the mouth after Potts kicked Kaby up the backside.

Potts was also dismissed.

The 2nd leg is on Monday night 22/3/10 at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea will start the game leading 1-0.
