Frank Arnesen is reportedly in Valencia and will compete with his Real Madrid counterpart Jorge Valdano for the signature of Valencia’s David Villa.

The media claim that Chelsea are making a £38million straight cash deal compared to Real Madrid’s proposal of £24m plus striker Alvaro Negredo.

Given Valencia’s significant financial problems Chelsea’s no-nonsense offer may well be the most attractive to “Los Che” but the deal will also hinge on the players wishes.  Villa has made it perfectly clear that his family want to remain in Spain.

"The key here is not just the money being offered but the sporting ambition of the club. David has never been interested only in money,” said Villa’s agent, José Luis Tomargo.

Villa, 28, has apparently already turned down a big offer from Manchester City – if this is true then what sway can Chelsea’s offer have if the player doesn’t want to play in England anyway?  Certainly it would illustrate that the players desire not to move out of the country is enough to prevent any deal despite what Valencia want?  Who knows?  Maybe the media’s claims that City made an offer is false?

There is no doubt that Villa would be an excellent addition to our strike options but how wise is it to have a player whose family doesn’t want to be there?

. 

Forget the “sporting ambition” comment from his agent – this move, as often happens, depends on the Mrs!

Villa is great striker, But
why he don't want to play at Chelsea?
I don't know what he plan other,
The World Fan know Real Madrid is Only Big Name,
They can't get any Champ ....
So What Villa want to play at Madrid?
Villa should go to Stampford, Bec
Stampford is the Biggest club in the World.

The Villa thing could well be strategy to ensure Real Madrid pay top price for him - therefore weakening their financial clout with other mutual targets eg Ribery?

At the moment it looks like we´re more focused on Aguero.
