Finally Scolari's first match as Chelsea manager has arrived. The game against Guangzhou Pharmaceutical kicks off 1pm this afternoon (UK time) in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou. The game is the first of three matches of Chelsea's 2008/09 Asian tour.
But what do you know about Guangzhou Pharmaceutical? Well for a start they have had six name changes since 1984. They were first known as Guangzhou Baiyunshan then Guangzhou Apollo then Guangzhou Geely then Guangzhou Xiangxue then Guangzhou Sun Ray Cave. Pharmaceutical play in the Chinese FA Super League where they won promotion from the Chinese 2nd division in 2007. Their colours are blue shirts with white shorts and blue socks and their away strip is white shirts, blue shorts and white socks. The club was founded in 1954 as the Guangzhou Football Club and their stadium is called Yuexiushan which has a capacity of 35,000. Pharmaceutical's league record this season is Played 13, Won 5, Drawn 2, Lost 6, Goals For 21, Goals Against 22. The match will be LIVE on the message board. Bookmark and come back later.

i hope lamps stays but i dont think it would be a disaster if he goes. I think we would then see more of ballack and essien getting forwrd. I also think ballack is a better as he is a better ball winner than lamps, the same conts for essien.
Ballack is due to join the squad tomorrow and Frank is playing like a man who wants to stay and play.
Kalou is only with the squad for two games before his goes off to the Olympics with the Ivory Coast squad.

Just read through the notes - sounds like Frank wanted to make a point doesn´t it? There were rumours last night that the club were going to relent and offer him the deal he wanted - caved in or calling his bluff? Don´t know - we´ll soon find out.
Didn´t see much about Deco - how did he play in your opinion?
Great to see Di Santo knock one in - I would have loved to see Kakuta travel and get a run out though.

These pre-season friendlies are normally just training matches to get fit but good to hear about us apparantly playing well and winning - was there any noticable change in system do you think?
