JOSE MOURINHO is now discussing terms with Inter Milan President, Massimo Moratti to take the helm of the Italian giant this summer. Jose Mourinho’s advisor, Eladio Parames confirmed that both Mourinho and his agent Jorge Mendes flew to Italy yesterday. We knew the time would come one day, the time when many of us would have to finally “let go” of The Special One - that time looks to be upon us.

There seems too much smoke on this one for the story to be cast in doubt.  Portuguese radio station Antena 1 has reported that Mourinho left Lisbon to fly to Milan on Friday as well as the Lusa news agency.

A senior source (Hmmm… I always get suspicious when journos use that jargon) at Inter has apparently said:

“Moratti is a great admirer of Mourinho who he sees as one of life’s achievers — just like himself.”

“The belief is that it will not take too long to reach an agreement with Mourinho to become the new coach of Inter.”

Some reports have suggested that Mourinho´s appointment could be confirmed at the end of this weekend.

Current manager Roberto Mancini announced he would leave Inter shortly after their CL exit at the hands of Liverpool but then later went on to retract his statement the next day!  But given that Mancini opened the stable door in the first place it does give Moratti the option to let the horse bolt without repercussions from the fans doesn’t it? 

Many top European clubs have been connected by the media with Mourinho since his departure from Chelsea. 

Barcelona are 2^nd in the league and by all accounts, fans and board alike seem to feel that Rijkaard´s time is nigh.  To be fair though, Rijkaard has spent the last two years saying that he is due a season sabbatical away from football anyway, and to confuse the issue further, the solemn Dutchman has also been touted as an Abramovich favourite and tipped to take the reins off of Grant at SW6 next season.

Personally, I don’t see how Barcelona would take on Mourinho given that the majority of their shareholders aren’t exactly enamoured with The Special One.

Real Madrid?  Well Schuster has them top of the league at the moment but I don’t see The Special One there either.  Real Madrid has a tier of directors much like the structure of management that Abramovich eventually wants at Chelsea – Mourinho would insist on almost total control and I imagine their president wouldn’t be prepared to make his technical secretary and directors virtually redundant. 

Milan (AC that is)?  Berlusconi has previously stated that he expects Ancelotti to continue next season (not that that means too much I suppose?!) but there is an aging squad that is crying out for a rebuild and Berlusconi does have a few bob doesn’t he? 

Inter would appear to be first in the queue but I would imagine that Mourinho´s future lies within one of the two Milan clubs – whichever one lets him have most control is where he’ll end up.

Maybe there were or were to be secret talks and his spokesman dropped a rollock......
