Today, Chelsea Football Club made the following statement: “Chelsea Football Club can confirm it has agreed terms with Lokomotiv Moscow for the transfer of Branislav Ivanovic. A work permit application has also been successful for the player.” “The transfer is now subject to the agreement of personal terms and passing of the medical.”

The transfer fee is reported to be around 8.9M and he should begin training with the squad tomoorow or Thursday.

The Serbian, 23, is a versatile defender who specialises in centre-half or right back.  He is 6” 2”, quick and aggressive and is probably viewed as a cover primarily for Ricardo Carvalho or ideal for when playing three at the back.

Ivanovic was the subject of interest of various English and continental clubs such as Milan, Barcelona, Man Utd, Real Madrid, Juventus and Inter and has been tracked since last years European U21 tournament.

Branislav Ivanovic received his first full cap on June 6, 2006 in Canada, when Serbia and Montenegro played a friendly against Italy and scored his first senior goal – the equaliser in the 88^th min - on September 12, 2007 against Portugal in Lisbon during a Euro 2008 qualifier.

He likes to get forward and does seem to have a bit if a mad streak in him.  One Itailian journalist described him as a ''Force of nature, but he needs to be educated about tactics."

This is Chelsea´s 2^nd senior signing during the January 2008 transfer window – rumours continue that there will still be one more – let´s wait and see,

..and he´s started training today.

He probably won´t be fit for Wednesday though.

I imagine he´ll be in the line-up for Wigan....

Michael Mancienne on loan at QPR and Ryan Bertrand on loan at Norwich trained at Cobham today despite having time off from their respective loan clubs.

Interesting.

QPR fans have been raving about Manciene.

But are they available for selection though?

Wouldn´t have thought so if they are STILL on loan - or are they?

No they are not available they just used their time off until they report back to their clubs on Wednesday.

Ryan Bertrand got rave reviews at Oldham, where he played 24 times before coming back just after the new year and going straight off to Norwich.

Don't worry about his size. Stoch is quality

Was looking forward to see him on the right, with Sinclair on the left and Sahar in the middle for the reserves against Tottingham tonite - but the game was called off.

Was a strong team - Jimmy Smith, Phil Younghusband, Carl Magnay (Football Icon 2 winner).
