Its third versus top as the Reserves travel to Barnet to play Arsenal Reserves at the Underhill Stadium in a match that kicks off at 7pm.

 

Chelsea statement on Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini:

Chelsea Football Club is pleased to confirm that Petr Cech's condition is improving.  He is now fully conscious following the operation and the effects of the anaesthetic.  He is communicating and talking with his wife Martina as well as the Chelsea and hospital medical teams who have now given permission for visitors.

Several members of the Chelsea management and team including José Mourinho and John Terry visited him this afternoon, while Carlo Cudicini was at the training ground today.

Chelsea is grateful to everybody for their concern and good wishes for both Petr and Carlo.  We would appeal to the media to please respect the privacy and feelings of Petr's wife at this time.

Carlo did some light work of the training runner (about 15mins) and he said on Chelsea TV tonight that he will start work again properly on Wednesday (subject to medical advice) Carlo claims that he will be available for selection for the Portsmouth game.

Chelsea will be without Yves Ma Kalambay who appears to have been promoted to the first team squad for Wednesday nights Champions League clash with Barcelona.

19 year old German Youth International Nick Hamann gets promotion from the Academy and plays in goal. Also missing from tonight's line-up and for the next month is central defender Michael Mancienne who has joined Queen's Park Rangers on a month's loan. Michael joins Jimmy Smith who went to QPR a couple of weeks ago.

17 year old Harry Worley who scored for the Academy on Saturday keeps his place at centre-half alongside Adrian Pettigrew.

Ben Sahar, who scored a hat-trick in the 5-0 demolition of Portsmouth two weeks ago, starts up front and will be supported by Scott (Who is Theo Walcott?) Sinclair who scored two goals in the same game.

Arsenal's squad includes Phillipe Senderos who is returning from injury, Mattheu Flamini and former Derby County goalkeeper Mart Poom.
