Has the William Gallas saga of is he staying or is he going taken a new twist in the last few hours?

Chelsea Football Club have released a statement this evening that William Gallas WILL NOT be joining the club's current pre-season (one game) tour of the U.S.

Serious implications indeed not just for Willie G but for us fans who are supporting and hoping and wishing that Willie G stays and continues to enjoy heralded success at Chelsea as HE has enjoyed especially since the era of Mr A.

The statement issued by Chelsea Football Club is as follows:

'William Gallas will not be joining up with Chelsea FC on the pre-season tour of the United States.

Gallas was due to join the team with the other Chelsea players who participated in the World Cup semi-finals and Final.

William requested extra-time off following the World Cup but was informed he should still report to Los Angeles on the date previously agreed with him. He did not report and further action will now be considered by the club as a consequence.

Pre-season training and the tour is about building team spirit among our squad and extra leave is only granted for valid football-related reasons.

Discussions between Chelsea and William about a new contract are already well documented and ongoing. He has one year left on his current contract.'

I suspect that Willie G has thrown the gauntlet out to Chelsea regarding his contract and I also suspect that Willie G is on his way - I DO hope I am wrong!!

COME ON CHELSEA!
