In this section of Wednesday Wonderland we take a look at how Wednesday are hitting the news: either in newspapers, or on other media websites. These articles are totally independant from Wednesday Wonderland and are not the views expressed by our site.

from Milton Keynes Citizen:

I've had no approach for Platt says Wilson

DANNY Wilson has dismissed speculation linking Sheffield Wednesday with a renewed £500,000 bid for Clive Platt, declaring: "You can stick another nought on that!"

Owls' boss Paul Sturrock is still searching for a target-man and national newspaper reports at the weekend claimed he had re-ignited his interest in the 6ft 4in striker after having a £100,000 bid rejected in August.

But Dons' manager Wilson said: "Nobody's spoke to me at all about Clive Platt.
"Apart from the initial phone call two or three months ago, nobody at all has spoken to me."
Reports suggested Wilson had slapped a £500,000 price tag on the 27-year-old's head to scare off interest for the striker, who has scored three goals so far this season.

But the Dons' boss insisted he is worth more like £5m!

Wilson said: "Put another nought on that – that's his value to us.
"His value is very high as far as we are concerned, and if it's £500,000 they are talking about, then that's a minimum I would think."

Sheffield Wednesday - Loan move collapses
13 Oct 2005 13:16

Sheffield Wednesday's bid to bring a striker to the club on loan has collapsed after the unnamed hitman fell ill on Thursday.

Owls boss Paul Sturrock was confident the star would be added to his squad in time for Saturday's clash at Plymouth.

However, Sturrock has now admitted defeat until next week at the earliest.

Meanwhile, MK Dons boss Danny Wilson has denied reports suggesting Wednesday have made a new bid for striker Clive Platt.
