Burnley Football Club have agreed to sign 25-year old defender Stephen Foster on a two-year deal from Crewe Alexandra.

Burnley have agreed to sign 25-year old defender Stephen Foster on a two-year deal from Crewe Alexandra. Foster, who was out of contract at Gresty Road joins on a free transfer.

Manager Steve Cotterill told the official site: 

“With Duane Courtney on the transfer list we are down to five defenders and if two of them were to get injured we have a problem.

“Stephen is a free transfer, but more than that he’s a proven defender, a good lad with excellent character. He is an honest boy and I really think he will do well for us."

Foster emerged from Crewe’s highly acclaimed academy and made over 250 appearances for the Railwaymen and will link up with former Alex striker Steve Jones.
