His career kicked off in the 2002/2003 season when he netted 11 goals and saw Crewe regain instant promotion back to Division One. He continued netting goals scoring 16 goals the following season and earning the Supporters Player of the Year Award. Last season he notched up 13 goals despite the premature birth of his son and five goals this season.

The news follows Jonah confirming he would be leaving Crewe at the end of this season:

"I've had five great years here and I cannot thank the club, the fans and the staff for all they have done for me. Crewe will always hold a special place in my heart because they gave me a chance to play in the Football League again and go on to play for Ireland."

The signing will be a boost following the managers decision to place 4 players, one being Micah Hyde, on the transfer list.

Steve Cotterill told the official website:

"We are delighted to have agreed a deal for Steve, who I think will be one of the best Bosman signings of the summer.

"He is a great lad who possesses great pace and I feel we could have done with that this season. If so, we could possibly have turned some of the draws into wins.

"But we cannot look back and instead we look forward to Steve linking up with the rest of the squad when they return for pre-season training."
