The Longside’s current poll at the time of writing shows that 43% of us thought that the sale of Ade for £1,750,000 was fantastic business, although late entrants have reduced this figure down from over 50%. If the poll was to run again after the transfer window closed it would be interesting to see just how many now think it was good business. Enough of that though, we’ve gone over this and expressed our opinions, and now it’s time to support the new man and get behind the lads, and cheer the Clarets on to a respectable league position.

Plymouth come into the game in a rich vein of form that has seen them pick up 10 points from a possible 12 following their last defeat in the league, a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Leeds. On Saturday the Pilgrims welcome back Tony Capaldi, who missed the midweek win over Southampton through suspension.

The Clarets once again go into the game with no injury worries apart from the long-term injury to Danny Coyne. Wayne Thomas is continuing his progress to full fitness and will fight with Michael Duff for a place in the starting eleven.

We have met already this season, with Plymouth taking the points in a 1-0 victory. It wasn’t the best of games, with Burnley struggling early on in the season.

The last meeting between the sides at Turf Moor was our last home game of last season, with the Clarets picking up all three points in a 2-0 win. It was a late, late show from the Clarets, with the first goal coming from the spot. Strangely, Jean-Louis Valois took the kick, but confidently tucked it away for 1-0. Then deep in injury time the Clarets broke away through James O’Connor who had options to the left and right, but he chose to ignore them as the crowd screamed for him to pass, before slotting away a fantastic individual goal ensuring the 2-0 victory. It was the last time we would see Gary Cahill in a Burnley shirt and he was given a fantastic send-off, and who can forget Steve Cotterill looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger in ‘that’ vest!

Back to the present day though, and the Clarets will have to adopt a different approach to suit the new man who will surely take up Ade’s lone striker role which will again see a five-man midfield. Ricketts is a powerful player like Ade although lacks his pace, Cotterill has said he does possess a good touch though and like Ade we will have to play to his strengths. It’s been over a month now since our last victory, but lets hope Mr. Ricketts and the Clarets can bring us the over-due three points.
