Clarke Bid Rejected

Burnley have had a bid for Stoke City defender Clive Clarke turned down. The 25-year-old is in the final year of his contract with the Potters and looks set to leave. The Clarets had a £125,000 bid turned down whilst Premiership side Sunderland had a £100,000 bid rejected.

"Obviously the manager's got to assess the players, so we've turned down the offers from Burnley and Sunderland," Stoke's director of football John Rudge told the club's official website.

"He's an Irish international and the offers made are substantially less than the player is worth."
