Robbie Blake has broken his silence on all the transfer speculation surrounding him and has stated that he does want to move to Wigan.

Speaking to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph Blake had this to say.....

"I am not trying to look all innocent in all this because I do want to go to Wigan.

"But their bid is nothing to do with me not signing a contract. Two weeks before Wigan were interested I had decided I wasn't going to sign the deal, so things were taken totally out of the gaffer's hands.

"We'd been talking, but at this moment in time I feel a move is right for me.

"The talks over that deal broke down several weeks ago after stumbling blocks emerged."

"The lads are all great and the gaffer has been different class. He has done everything he can, including making me captain and helping me become a better player and a better person.

"I had a chat with him yesterday and he has been really understanding. The past week has been difficult for him and for me, but this has nothing to do with him.

"At the end of the day, everyone has to make the right decisions for themselves and I think this is the right decision for me."

"When you look at this division, there are not that many teams I would go to instead of playing at Burnley.

"I remember saying I was happy and going nowhere, but Wigan are a completely different proposition and I don't feel I can turn down that chance at this moment in time.

"It's strictly for professional reasons that I want to go and I hope the fans can accept that. It might be hard, but that's the way it is.

"I know some Burnley supporters won't be happy because it's Wigan who are the club involved, but times change.

"Blackburn Rovers were once a smaller club than Burnley and, looking at the way things are, I think this is the right move for me to get back in the Premiership.

"Wigan might not be there yet, but I think they have a great chance of going up and I would just like to be given the opportunity.

"The fans at Burnley have been first class and I know that saying all this, I will get a bit of stick.

"But this is not anything personal. It's just a decision I feel I have to make."

"I've been playing the best football of my career here at Burnley and I feel I've improved as a player.

"Goals will always make the headlines and that's what's been happening and that's why Wigan are interested in signing me.

"You don't get interest like that if you are having a bad season."
