The Clarets face Spurs at Turf Moor tonight in the 4th Round of the Carling Cup. Its just over 2 years ago that Burnley knocked Spurs out of the same competition in a game that was also televised.

It was in the 3rd Round that we beat Spurs two seasons ago. Tottenham took the lead early on with Gus Poyet scoring and Burnley could not get into the game. Stan Ternent saw this and brought on Glen Little after 25 minutes and this move changed the game. We won it 2-1 with Robbie Blake and Steve Davis getting our goals although it could have been more with Blake hitting the post at 2-1.

New loan signing Gary Cahill, who has been given permission to play tonight, will almost certainly start his 1st ever game in the heart of the defence, at the expense of the injured Frank Sinclair, alongside John McGreal. Michael Duff, who returns from suspension, will play right-back with Mo Camara on the left.

The midfield five will probably be Lee Roche, Richard Duffy, Tony Grant, Micah Hyde and Graham Branch with James O'Connor forced to miss the match as he is cup tied. Robbie Blake will play in his usual lone role upfront.

Martin Jol, who was appointed the new Tottenham manager yesterday, is expected to name a full strength side for the game tonight which could mean Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane and Freddie Kanoute all start. Jamie Redknapp, Pedro Mendes and Simon Davies will play in midfield. The back four would be King, Naybet, Pamarot and Anthony Gardner. The only change could be in goal with Paul Robinson possibly stepping aside for Kasey Keller who played in the last round in the visitors win over Bolton.
