After months of planning tonight Turf Moor will play host to Stan Ternent's Testimonial match against Manchester United. The entertainment starts at 6pm, with guest stars coming on the pitch at 7pm and the match itself kicks off at 7.30pm Read More:
Yes for only £16 for adults and £6 for concessions all clarets have a chance to celebrate Stan Ternent's successful time in charge at Turf Moor.
The Sunderland match was emotional and sad, tonight is the chance to close the Ternent era with a real party.
Watch the tribute band the Reclaimers; football stars like Ian Wright; top football managers; a Manchester United team that includes Giggs, Scholes, Forlan, Phil Neville and a lot more!!!
Furthermore Stan will be saying a final thank you, and the club will benefit financially from the evening.
This really is a rare event, and you will NEVER get the chance to say farewell again. So please turn out and support Stan. Let's get a big and noisy crowd for this match - it is the least we can do for the man who brought us promotion, two 7th place finishes in Division One, an FA Cup Quarter Final, and the man who put the passion and pride back in our club.
As fan Bhurdwaz Mungur says:
"The pages of History mostly related when we were at our nadir points have to be retained and not forgotten. We were swimming in murky water not very long ago. Burnley to some appeared dead and buried. The gate was lean.
Still some stood and took the bull by the horns. One of them was Stan Ternent. He worked hard and won us promotion to the 1st division. Through odds he retained the boat tossing and never let it sink.
My earnest appeal is that the fans have to attend to-night's testimonial match and to say a big thank you to STAN THE MAN .
Burnley is a club with rich traditions. The names of all those who served the club with all their hearts are retained, honoured and named. This tradition has to be preserved."
The Longside website can only agree.
