Clarets suffer first defeat in 18 games at Bramall Lane
Burnley fell to their first loss since August on Saturday afternoon, despite the Clarets leading 2-1 at the break through Manuel Benson's brace, a second half brace from Oli McBurnie and strikes from Anel Ahmedhodžić and Jack Robinson sealed the victory for the Blades at Bramall Lane.
Vincent Kompany made three changes from the side that beat Rotherham United 3-2 on Wednesday night, as Josh Cullen replaced the suspended Josh Brownhill in central midfield, with Samuel Bastien and Benson coming in for Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Jay Rodriguez.
First Half
It was a lively start In south Yorkshire, with both teams getting stuck straight into the action, in a mouth-watering lunchtime clash for any neutral.
The Clarets started bright and so did Benson, as the in-form wideman beat Enda Stevens down the right, before breaking forward and curling an effort wide of Wes Foderingham’s goal.
United then came close with 15 minutes on the clock, as Blades forward McBurnie glanced a header from a corner just over the bar from close range.

All down to one word - organisation. Had the defensive unit been organised, rather than ball watching at set pieces we wouldn,t have shipped 5 goals. Muric was appalling at commanding his area and taking any ball above shoulder height. I think we shifted Peacock-Farrell out on loan after he let in 5 goals, time to do the same for Muric or everyone will exploit his obvious weakness.
It has been coming. Muric just doesn't seem to give confidence when defending set pieces does he?
Or is it the other way round?
Before I saw the line up I thought Taylor might have been given a start at left back; Maatsen just hasn't seemed on it past few games.
It wouldn't have surprised me either if Barnes had been given a start too, he looked quite sharp the other night when he come on.
Horses for courses?
I'll just slip this one in
Only four teams from the wednesday fixtures were up against sides that had played on tuesday...The teams that had played on Wednesday all lost.
