Late Vydra strike secures a point on the road for the Clarets Matěj Vydra scored a dramatic late equaliser to rescue a point for the Clarets in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

 Thomas Tuchel’s side took a one-goal lead into the break after Kai Havertz’s powerful header broke a defiant Clarets defence.

 Sean Dyche named an unchanged side from last week’s win against Brentford, but two substitutes linked up for his side's goal as Vydra pounced on Jay Rodriguez's header to equalise with ten minutes remaining.

 Burnley showed immense heart and character to hang on against an impressive Chelsea side in the opening 15 minutes.

 The Blues could have scored inside five, but Nick Pope made an outstanding save, getting down low to his right to prevent Callum Hudson-Odoi’s powerful shot from finding the corner of the net.

 The young winger was put through on goal by Ross Barkley for that chance and nearly set up Andreas Christensen with a cross from a short corner moments later, but the defender’s header was glanced wide of the post.

 Pope’s busy opening nine minutes continued as he made another excellent stop from Jorginho, with Burnley’s number one doing well to push the Italian’s attempt out for a corner.

Well I will take a 1-1 away at Chelsea any day of the week, talk about resilience this team have it in bucket loads, even though we were getting betterd we hung on in there and took a point, late on we even could have taken all 3 points. Well done Clarets (Sm152)

t Yes I couldnt understand why J Rodd didnt have a crack at the goal instead he took it to the corner flag with seconds to go

Vydra was the one who could have have won it.

Need a few more wins before we lose Cornet for a month in January.

Are we talking Africa cup in regards Max. As for Vydra he may not be prolific for us but suspect it would be a different prospect in a better squad, he is after all a footballer.

Yep BON, Africa Cup Of Nations with Cote d 'Divoire.
Regards Vyds, to be fair to the lad I don;t think he gets enough game time, quite often gets brought on for the last 15-20mins but you are spot on in a better side he would be a different player.
