Part 13 of our summer squad-number feature Squad numbers were introduced for the first time in the 1999/2000 season and a generation of Clarets have since put their own special mark on a particular shirt.

 Repeating a series by contributor Wallace Chadwick which ran in the on-line Turf matchday magazine during the 2020/21 season, we will be highlighting who wore what and profiling some of those who made their mark at Turf Moor.

 This instalment concentrates on number 12, a shirt worn by only six players in more than two decades from Ronnie Jepson to Robbie Brady, whose spell with the Clarets ended this summer.

2001-04 Tony Grant (from Oct ’01)

2004-13 Brian Jensen

2013-15 Alex Cisak

2017- Robbie Brady (from Jan ’17)

Beast innit, he was an OK keeper, not the best we've had, but a real character, you just had to like him. My favourite memory of him is somewhere in Yorkshire, Huddersfield, Barnsley or Doncaster possibly, can't remember now. He put three consecutive goal-kicks over the left touchline and into the crowd, one of our frustrated fans shouted at him, 'Brian FFS, just aim for something green will you'.

I'd like to say I remember the penalty saves at Chelsea as well, but I had to leave early to get a flight back to Bordeaux and missed all the fun. (Sm16)
