Clarets Start Out At Southampton

The Clarets will kick off their 2018/19 Premier League campaign with a trip to Southampton.

 The launch of the new fixtures handed Burnley an opening-day trip to St Mary’s Stadium, where a late header from Southampton-born Sam Vokes gave Sean Dyche’s side a 1-0 win last season.

 The opening game against Mark Hughes’ south-coast outfit is scheduled for Saturday, 11 August, although it will be re-scheduled – probably to the following day – should Burnley make it into the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

 The Clarets’ first home Premier League game is against Watford and then following a trip to newly promoted Fulham, Dyche’s men will go into the first international break in September on the back of a visit from Manchester United.

Proper club playing a proper club.....Saints have a track record of signing quality players at the right money, they also had an excellent youth policy in the not too distant past aided and abetted by one Dave Merrington.

Its not until we meet City away that we should start to worry re losing games. The first 8 look pretty soft including Utd at home. At that time we should know where we will ed up in May. From those first eight games I would hope we would get 17-20 points racked up. Wildy optimistic? not when you think we were 7th last season.

Happy to see the first few games. Hopefully get off to a decent start.

Aren't Southampton one of those proper clubs that went into administration?

I'll feel a bit more confident when they stop dithering about and pay the money needed for Rodrigues and Dawson.
