Finally after more twists than a theme park roller coaster Burnley have a new manager. Yes folks our new man at the helm is 33 year old Eddie Howe from AFC Bournemouth and it is looking most likely that he will be aided by his assistant Jason Tindall.
Although nothing has been made official by either club, after tonights game between Colchester and Bournemouth live on sky, in his post match interview Eddie confirmed that this had been his last game as manager of Bournemouth and that he would be driving up to Burnley on Saturday morning to finalise his new job at Turf Moor. At the start of this week it was thought that all bets were off with Eddie after he announced that he would be staying at Dean Court, this after having reportedly rejecting interest from Crystal Palace and Charlton. On Wednesday afternoon there was a real twist in the tale when Skybet had all of a sudden listed Howe at a price of 1/20 to be the next permanent Burnley manager, within minutes all betting was suspended. Later on that day reports from the Bournemouth Echo were implying that Burnley had made an official approach to Bournemouth asking for permission to speak to Eddie about the vacant managerial position at Turf Moor, this seemed to be substantiated later on when Eddie Mitchell had supposedly confirmed that this was indeed correct. As this news filtered through, messageboards were in meltdown as there was a huge clamour for clarification from supporters of both clubs regarding this breaking news. Bournemouth supporters were left distraught after only one day earlier believing that Eddie would be carrying on as their much revered manager, but it was not to be and they are now suffering the same pain and heartache as we did after Coyle left us at the beginning of last year. Anyway all that is behind us as Eddie is now our man, and as the dust settles, it is now onwards and upwards as Eddie Howe's Claret and Blue army hopefully advance towards promotion to the Premier League. The Longside would like to congratulate Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall on their appointments at Burnley Football Club and wish them every success in this exciting new adventure for the club, the staff, and our supporters worldwide..
