The 24 year old ex Preston North End striker has signed for the Clarets on a 6 month loan deal with either a further loan extension or a permanent deal.

There will be few a few raised eyebrows tonight with the news of this signing as David hasn't been a favourite of Clarets fans since his PNE days, but he has been a successful England under 21 player and has also gained a full International cap. During his time at PNE he was hunted by both Sunderland and Portsmouth before he finally plumped for Pompey for £6 million.

He has scored goals at Championship level but has never really made his mark in the Premiership with Portsmouth, his time there appearing not to be his happiest.

He has now signed for a manager that will certainly do his best to bring his career back on track, hopefully David can rekindle the enthusiasm he certainly showed whilst at Preston, and just like Grezza did, let's hope he will soon have the Clarets faithful shouting his name.

This I believe is a no lose situation for Owen Coyle, he has brought in an experienced striker on loan, can watch how he progresses and then make the move permanent cheaply if the lad does the job.

He may not be everyone's favourite signing just now but he is now a Claret and as such should be given a chance.
