Longside Sponsors Day

The Longside held their annual sponsors day last Saturday at the home game with Nottingham Forest, It turned out to be a great day all round. We booked two tables of eight in the 1882 Lounge and all in attendance thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We met at 12-00 noon in the main entrance, were issued with our tickets and VIP badges then proceeded into the main room for our lunch.

After just being served with our starters someone at the club decided it would be a good idea to whisk us away to meet Kevin McDonald to have two of his shirts presented to us. So we all trundled off right round the ground to the entrance to the players tunnel, eventually Kev turned up to meet us and have his photo taken with our group. As we had issued all the kit sponsors with a raffle ticket, the prize being the winners choice of shirt, I asked Kev if he would be so kind and pull out the winning ticket, this he did and announced the winner as MrsFC, her face was a picture and she duly picked the home shirt, Kev then signed both shirts and disappeared back up the tunnel.

Back to the Lounge to carry on with the meal, thankfully someone had the foresight to whisk our starters back under the lamps to keep them warm, by the time we had finished the next two courses and submitted our answers for the quiz, guess the gate, and guess the time of the first goal it was time to take our seats for the kick off. Great seats they were to, quite near the front and no obstructed views, but by golly that Bob Lord stand is cold, just ask Fred Dibnah how cold it was in the first half.

Half time whistle blows and back to the lounge for cheese and biscuits. Back to our seats for the second half, final whistle blows and The Clarets had won 5-0, what a great result for us all.

We then made our way back to the lounge for more drinks, Mike King was compere for the day, what a really funny guy he was, made me laugh a lot anyway, he announced the quiz answers and much to the dismay of Longsiders 1882, even though he dared to google some of the answers we didn't win. Then on came Steve Kindon to answer a few questions, which were cut short when Kalvenes appeared in the doorway to receive the accolades for being man of the match.

We all said our goodbyes and made our way to the newly renovated Press Room for our evening bash.

What A Good Day Out, with really nice people.

I was more concerned about the fact they knew who had won without even marking the quiz sheets!!!! - what with that and the fix over the shirt draw it ruined my day

"A truth’s initial commotion is directly proportional to how deeply the lie was believed. It wasn’t the world being round that agitated people, but that the world wasn’t flat. When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic."

"The ideal tyranny is that which is ignorantly self-administered by its victims. The most perfect slaves are, therefore, those which blissfully and unawaredly enslave themselves."
