A very disappointing result at Turf Moor this afternoon, with the Clarets only managing a 0-0 draw against lowly Doncaster Rovers. As usually is the case in football, when the home side are the red hot favourites to win the game it ends up as a draw.
After all the recent good fortune and excellent results, the Clarets today threw one in, and were very lucky to come away with the single point, Rovers had most of the chances with 16 shots against Burnley's 6, that statistic telling the real story, and if Doncaster had been able to take their chances they would have run away with the 3 points.
This was another game where the referee seemed to want to spoil the game, blowing up for every minor foul, this time it was Steve Bennett who received the wrath of the fans after he sent off Steve Thompson in the 31st minute, this was his second bookable offence after already being booked in the 12th minute, other bookings today were Gudjonnson 25th min, Akinbiyi 63rd min, and Eagles in the 70th min.
Steven Caldwell was awarded the man of the match in what was a difficult game to actually pick anyone out as a star.
Altogether a very scrappy game in front of a crowd of 12,173.
We are in front of the Nation on Monday night when Sky Sports are showing our away game against Barnsley live, let's hope we can turn up and show the public the spirit we had at Stamford Bridge.
Poor poor game, not helped by the stupid reaction then Challenge from Thompson! and the Referee who was adamant about being centre of attention.
But as far as Doncaster go, they play some nice football, work hard and didnt sink to a brutal game knowing the league position they are in, once they find the net on a regular basis they will beat some of the top teams.
I thought Doncaster gave us plenty of problems, Their strike force couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo, If they can start to find the back of the net on a regular basis or bring someone in who can ASAP I can see them finishing in mid table.
I agree, didn't think they were too bad, far better than Norwich & Blackpool at the Turf. Again, them getting someone who can hit the net will be key to their fate.
To-nightI saw a glimpse of that match . They showedonly two fractions of the match .One was when Jensen intervened to save his goal posts remaining unviolated and the second when one Burnley was shown the card .
Still last week we aligned with clubs like Chelsea ,Liverpool and Manchester United .All of them had an identical 0-0 result like Burnley .
