TheLongside reference is your first stop for looking up and adding to data to this online databank. It is hoped that this will grow to become a vital resource for fans looking for information on Burnley players past and present, players from other clubs past and present, clubs, grounds, records and anything remotely related to Burnley Football Club. Those of you familiar with Wikipedia will recognise the site format as it runs off the same software but for those of you that have not come across Wikipedia before, it is basically a website where visitors can not only read the articles, but also edit them and even add their own. Because of this, the site will be ever-changing and ever-growing as more and more information is added to the Longside Reference knowledgebase. The site is available at the following address: http://www.thelongside.info To read a page on TheLongside Reference, you must search for it using the search facility on the left. Just type in your subject (ie. Graham Branch) and click ‘Go’ for the site to find the most relevant page to your terms, or click ‘Search’ to do a Google-esque search for any relevant pages. For example, if you wanted information on Stan Ternent, you would type 'Stan Ternent' into the search box. Clicking the 'Go' button would take you directly to a page about Stan. Clicking 'Search' will give you a lists of articles with references to Stan in. As yet there is very little information available, so we ask that you add as much information as possible to help build the site up. If you find a page that already has information on but that you think you can improve, we encourage you to do so. Don't be afraid to edit—anyone can edit almost any page. Find something that can be improved, whether content, grammar or formatting, and make it better. You can't break TheLongside Reference. Anything can be fixed or improved later. So go ahead, edit an article and help make this the best Burnley FC information source on the Internet! It is so simple to make changes to an article, just click ‘edit’ at the top of the page, type your amendments and click save. If you are not completely confident about how to use the edit box, you can use the playground, here: If you search for an article that has not yet been created, then it is up to you to add the information in. When you search for a topic that does not yet exist a message will appear reading: “There is no page titled "Turf Moor". You can create this page.” By clicking the ‘create this page’ link you can input whatever information you like about that subject in the same way as if you are editing. We ask you to be bold and put in whatever information you have, however little it is - once a page has been created it will be built upon by other users. One more thing. We want you to enjoy this resource- it is yours, but we ask that you do look after it and write in proper English that is readable for everyone. We have a spell-check feature, please use it if you are not confident with any of your spellings. The Longside would like to thank Kev Robinson and Burnley Ultras for their help and setting up of this new feature, if you require any help or further information, leave a message below. |
