Read into that what you will, but it does sound as though the former Blackpool manager has just two games to save his job, starting tomorrow. Worthington will also have to contend with a protest which is expected to be staged in the ground by disgruntled Norwich fans.

Steve Cotterill is expected to face some interesting questions from the Sky interviewers also, as rumours of his departure to West Bromwich Albion seem to be intensifying, rather than going away.

Burnley Football Club insist there has been no contact as yet between the two clubs, with Cotterill adding, “To be honest, things stand exactly the same as they did last time anyone asked me the question. Nothing has changed and I would imagine that if West Bromwich Albion were interested in talking to me, my chairman would tell me. I would imagine they would contact him first, if that was the case.”

The bookies remain unconvinced though, with odds shortening from 7/2 to 5/4 since the book opened. Expect much more speculation, and possibly an approach for Steve Cotterill next week, but for the time being, and for the game at Carrow Road, Cotterill will remain firmly in the Clarets hot-seat.

It has been over 5 years now since we recorded a victory at Carrow Road, a 3-2 victory courtesy of Kevin Ball, Gareth Taylor and Ian Moore as we tried desperately to cling on to our play-off hopes towards the end of our first season back in this division. Unfortunately, we have lost every game there since, not a happy hunting ground for us in recent years.

Last season saw honours even, as we once again lost down there, but beat them in front of the Sky cameras at Turf Moor. We had just moved up to 5^th in the league after beating Stoke at Turf Moor as we travelled to Carrow Road just two days later to fit in another game during the busy Christmas period.

Burnley boss Steve Cotterill who had stated that he would be shuffling the pack over the Christmas period surprised everyone by naming Wayne Thomas in his starting line-up, his first start since his speedy recovery from his cruciate knee injury, and even Gifton got an unlikely start, his first start since September.

Cotterill, shall we say, got this one wrong, and the formation seemed to invite pressure, with Wayne Thomas having to be replaced at half-time, and Burnley only improving in the second half due to a change of formation.

It was better at Turf Moor though as we finally got our first goals in well over a month (6 games to be exact) thanks to new signing Andy Gray and Graham Di Branchio. Gray’s home debut saw him score a cracking goal to put us 1-0 up, and a second half Graham Branch header saw the three points stay at Turf Moor.

Back to tomorrow though, and the Clarets just have serial bad-boy Wayne Thomas missing as he starts a four match ban. Danny Coyne is still a long way off taking part this season after suffering a further setback, picking up a calf strain whilst recovering from his cruciate ligament injury.

The Canaries may welcome back midfielders Lee Croft and Andy Hughes following recoveries from calf and groin injuries respectively, whilst Darren Huckerby, scourge of the Clarets on many an occasion will face a late fitness test.

We may not have a better opportunity to take points from Carrow Road, with all being far from well down there, let’s hope we can make the most of the opportunity in front of the Sky cameras.
